Privacy policy

What personal data and files 7DayParts collects when you request a quote or place an order, why we collect them, who sees them and how you can have them deleted.

This policy covers the website 7dayparts.com and the quotes and orders handled through it. "We" and "us" mean 7DayParts. If you have a question about this policy, email quote@7dayparts.com.

What we collect

When you submit the quote form, we collect:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, company name and the country you want parts shipped to.
  • Order details: quantity, material, finish and lead-time preferences, whether you want an NDA, and anything you write in the notes field.
  • Files: the CAD models, drawings and archives you upload (STEP, IGES, STL, X_T, DWG, DXF, PDF, ZIP).
  • Technical data: like any web server, ours records standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request) used for security and troubleshooting.

When you email us or place an order, we also keep that correspondence, and the details needed to invoice and ship your order, such as delivery address and phone number for the courier.

The quote form has a hidden field used to block automated spam. It does not collect anything from you.

Why we use it

  • To review your files, prepare a quote and DFM notes, and reply to you.
  • To manufacture, inspect and ship your parts if you place an order.
  • To invoice you and keep business and tax records.
  • To keep the website secure and working.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not add you to a marketing list. We may email you about your own quotes and orders.

For visitors in the EU, EEA and UK, our legal bases under the GDPR are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract (quotes and orders); legal obligations (accounting and tax records); and our legitimate interests in running and securing the website.

Where your files are stored

Files uploaded through the quote form are saved on our web server in a folder that is not publicly accessible from the internet. Each request gets its own folder. A copy of the request details is also sent to our business mailbox, and smaller uploads are attached to that email. The web server and email service are operated by third-party hosting providers on our behalf.

Who sees your data and files

  • Our team, to quote, manage and inspect your order.
  • The machine shop making your part, which receives the files and information it needs to quote and manufacture it. If you ask for an NDA, we sign yours or ours before reviewing your files, and the shop works under the same confidentiality.
  • Couriers (DHL, FedEx or UPS), which receive the delivery details needed to ship your parts.
  • Payment provider: payments are processed by PayPal. If you pay by card, you enter your card details on PayPal, and we never see your card number. Bank transfers are handled by our bank.
  • Hosting and email providers, which store data on our behalf.
  • Authorities, only where the law requires it.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data or your files. Since parts are made in China, your files and order details are transferred to and processed in China and in the countries where our service providers operate.

How long we keep it

We keep your data and files as long as we need them to quote, make and support your order, including repeat orders of the same part, and as long as we must keep business and tax records. You can ask us to delete your files and personal data at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep a record, such as an invoice.

Cookies and third-party services

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address; see Google's privacy policy for how it handles that data. If we use analytics, it is used only for aggregate traffic statistics, not to identify or advertise to you. The pay page uses PayPal, which sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

Security

Uploaded files are stored outside the public part of the website, and access is limited to the people who need them for your order. No system is perfectly secure, so if your design is highly sensitive, ask for an NDA before sending files.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct data that is wrong;
  • delete your data and files;
  • stop or restrict using your data, or object to how we use it.

Email quote@7dayparts.com from the address you used with us, so we can confirm the request is yours. We will reply within one month. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK and are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This is a business service for engineers and companies. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
